What's a Nice Swedish Boy
Doing in a Country Like This?
For years A. R.
Yngve has been shaking up the world of art and literature in Sweden.
Now he wants to give America a try.

He calls himself the Swede who came in from the cold. He calls
himself a novelist. He calls himself a cover artist.
Now he's calling himself antsy.
A. R.Yngve (pronounced ING-vay) is anxious to bring his Swedish-honed
talents to America, and he wants the whole world to know.
He started out drawing and writing comic strips for Semic Press in the
1990s. Shortly after that, he began dabbling in literature, writing
prose in both Swedish and English. After his short fiction was
published in Sweden, China (yes, China has a booming literary market, too!),
and the United States, his first young adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel, Terra
Hexa, was released by a Swedish publishing house.
It's garnering great reviews and selling well--so well, in fact, that a
sequel, Terra Hexa II, is scheduled for release later this year.
Not surprisingly, Yngve, who still lives and works in Sweden, enjoys
doing his own cover art. That's where his early comic-book training
comes into play. "My experience in comics taught me to integrate words
and pictures in cover art. The letters are part of the illustration."
The Yngve covers shown here are from existing books by A.R.Yngve: Terra
Hexa, Terra Hexa II, The Face in the Door and Other Stories (also
available as a chapbook from
www.cafepress.com/aryngve), and Alien Beach, which is not yet
published.
So far as what the future holds for this multi-talented, bilingual
artist, anything goes. "I'm going to keep writing, of course," he
said. "But I'm also anxious to branch out and do more artwork.
I'd love to work as a cover artist for other writers."
Yngve's writing is represented in the United States by Faye M. Swetky of
The Swetky Agency. For
