Golden SCRIBE!
Awards for 2008

Beginning today and ending sometime in the not-too-distant future, we're pleased to announce AmSAW's first ever SCRIBE! Media Magazine 2008 Literary Competition.  The rules of the competition are deviously simple:

  1. Find a topic suggested by an article in any issue of the members-only SCRIBE! Media Magazine.  LEARN MORE OR JOIN
     
  2. Create either a book proposal or a film or television script treatment suggested by that article topic. 
     
  3. E-mail your submission to AmSAW as an attachment.  Include the SCRIBE! article title and date of publication in the body of the e-mail (Example: You e-mail a proposal or treatment about an author who tries using the Internet to become famous, based upon the article, "Internet for New Authors: Slow, Painful Death," June 2007 issue).  Simply indicate the source of inspiration in your e-mail to us.     

The winning submission will receive a special citation, widespread national and international publicity, and guaranteed literary agency representation for sales of the winning property (plus any other marketable works you may have available for representation) by The Swetky Literary Agency. 

That's just how confident The Swetky Agency and AmSAW are that the rich resources of SCRIBE! Media Magazine combined with a talented writer will lead to a publishing or production contract with a conventional publisher and/or producer.

Second- and third-place winners will receive close looks for representation (but no guarantees here--representation will depend strictly upon the quality of the runners-up and what the agency deems to be the overall marketability of the properties).  The Swetky Agency is a no-fee literary agency that handles both book-length fiction and nonfiction and full-length and television scripts for sale.  LEARN MORE

While there is no entry fee and authors can enter as many different properties as they wish, you will need to be a member of AmSAW in order to qualify and to access the voluminous storehouse of information contained therein.  The cost of membership is $60 a year and offers a wide range of advantages to writers.  LEARN MORE

So go ahead.  Prove us right.  Find your favorite inspirational SCRIBE! Media Magazine article, create a marketable concept for a book or script from it, and submit it for representation.  What do you have to lose?  (Far more than you may ever know.)
