even more bloodshed and death at the local alternative school overflowing
with future prison inmates.
Blurb/Logline:
When compulsory education goes amok, fear,
bloodshed, romance, deceit, prejudice, and revenge dominate one man's
life. Chris Samuel stoically marks off each day spent teaching in
the alternative school from hell, believing it will all be over in one
short year. Blinded by love, he's totally ensnared in a deathtrap
and is the last to learn the harshest lesson survival can teach. Now
it's up to a local cop to stop the bloodbath Samuel's own naiveté helped
to unleash, or Chris Samuels' world as he knows it will come crashing down
around him.
Synopsis:
This crime/mystery novel is set in an alternative
school for sociopaths in West Texas. A trio of violent juveniles brutally
beats a student, thinking he’s hording drugs. This immediately escalates
into a near-fatal stabbing at the local hospital, and the county’s best
law officer must discover who’s guilty. However, he misreads the crime
scene clues, and only by the novel’s end does he realize his error. He
rushes to the school to prevent further bloodshed, but arrives too late to
stop a murder followed by yet another attempted murder. Trapped in all
this mayhem is a young teacher assigned for one unbearable year in this
school. After being rescued in a fierce snowstorm, he becomes romantically
involved with the sister of one of these alternative school miscreants,
and thus he’s unwittingly targeted for murder, a murder the investigating
officer must race to prevent. The teacher’s only hope is that he’ll
survive this year in hell, but fate has other plans for him. Amid all this
mayhem, a strong motif of ethnic prejudice permeates If the Shoe Fits,
creating further dynamic tension in this garnered-from-life thriller.
Bio:
I'm a 35-year veteran of the classroom and I've written 100's of
articles for local, regional, and national publications. However, If
the Shoe Fits is my first venture into fiction. Relying on the adage
that one should write about what he knows best, I drew from my experiences
in a dangerous alternative school as my inspiration for this must-read
novel.
Prominent Endorsements:
David L. Fleming, author of Summertime and Border Crossings, said of
my work, "You’re a natural story teller. Your unique voice comes through
loud and clear."
Movie:
It's got suspense, romance, violence, dynamic characters, makes a
valid social comment, and it's damn entertaining! A strong plot,
vivid characters, and a unique setting all scream, "Film me!"
Additional:
As a teacher with 35 years of experience as well as having taught in
an alternative school, I know what I'm talking about. |
