Synopsis:

After Jordan Concland’s mother died, her life lost momentum. At fifteen, living with her father, Mitch, Jordan ached for something more. Finding it impossible to communicate with her father, tired of feeling smothered, isolated, and hidden away, Jordan longs for something more.

When a mysterious, beautiful red haired woman comes to Jordan, she is easily seduced. One kiss was all it took for Jordan to be enraptured by Psyche. Anxious to leave behind the tormenting secrets and heartache that plagued her past, Jordan runs away with Psyche and her friends: Damien, Sebastian and Taylor.

Living with these people was a dream to Jordan. Able to do what she wished, falling deeply in love with Psyche, Jordan doesn’t observe to differences between the small group of friends and herself.

When a lone vampire, Alexander, notices the beautiful young Jordan amidst the soul takers, he lures her away and threatens her existence. Jordan learns the truth of the soul takers. Unlike vampires, the soul takers do not drink blood of their victims, but take the “Light” of the soul during a deep, drawing kiss.

Damien still mourns the loss of his soul mate, Melissa, murdered by a vicious soul taker, Joshua. He feels taking Jordan from her father at a young age is a mistake. While Jordan comes to terms with the existence of true immortals, Damien slips back to Mantua to find out if Mitch deserves to have his daughter back.

A recovering alcoholic and retired police officer, Mitch Concland had lost his wife to a car accident and blamed himself for her death. Now with his daughter missing, the one love left in his life, Mitch knows his daughter is alive and despite what the police lieutenant says, he can’t wait for a miracle.

Once Damien realizes Mitch is a good father, he searches for the reason why Jordan would run away from. She had buried a deep secret since her mother’s death two years earlier.

Deep in the bowels of the Catholic Church, Damien finds a fiend that hides in the guise of a priest to prey on children. Once of his victims had lost her mother two years before and is now missing. Among the filth and lies, Damien finds Fr. Michel Dormer’s hidden room in the basement of the church and his trophies of obsession with Jordan. Damien stops Fr. Dormer before he can rape a child and crucifies the priest on the highest peak of the steeple.

On the trail of the soul takers, three vengeful vampires with no regard for life of any kind, torture Alexander hoping he knows where the soul eaters are dwelling. After a narrow escape, Alexander had a taste for revenge. To find the three vampires that took his eye, he has to find the soul takers. To find the soul takers, Alexander finds Mitch.

Unknowingly, Mitch is led to the location of the soul takers by following the clues left by Damien. Damien hopes for Mitch to convince Jordan to return with him. After his car breaks down, Mitch is forced to take shelter from a raging thunderstorm in an abandoned house. Once Mitch makes his way through the cellar and up into the main area of the house, he realizes the house isn’t abandoned but it appears the owners are the people that kidnapped his daughter. He begins to search the house. One bedroom draws Mitch near the four-post bed. The blankets are off and the mattress has imprinting of where bodies have slept entwined together. Mitch’s attention is drawn closer to the pillows. The flicker of lightning illuminates the face staring back at Mitch. Startled, Mitch moves out of the bedroom trying to wrap his mind around what he’s seen. Making his way into another bedroom, Mitch is attacked by a raging male that appears seemingly out of nowhere. Damien appears and holds off Sebastian from hurting Mitch. Before it can get further an eruption from downstairs makes the three stop their personal quarrels.

The front door is busted in and two of the three vampires, Dew and Sherlock, make their announcement as they move past the foyer. Milo, the brain of the three, tracks through the basement of the house, following the residue of Mitch’s trail, without regard he sets fire to anything available.

Damien rushes to Taylor’s bedroom where he wakes her and helps her slip over the railing of the veranda and out to safety. Before he can turn back, one of the vampires attacks him, breaking his ankle. Enraged, Psyche tackles the vampire before he can kill Damien. Escaping from the smoky room into the fiery hallway, they move back to Sebastian. A vampire emerges from the shadowy smoke. Before he can attack Damien and Psyche, Mitch shoots the vampire. Moving to the other end of the hall, away from the rising heat and flames, following Psyche and Sebastian supporting Damien, Mitch is dragged into another room by the vampire he just shot. Before the vampire can kill Mitch, Alexander arrives to save Mitch and helps him down to the bedroom door where it’s barricaded by Sebastian.

Once inside, Mitch learns that Jordan was helped into the attic through a trapdoor in Psyche’s bedroom. She’s still safe as far as they know but the heart of the fire and vampires are just outside the bedroom door.

Overhead in the dark and gossamer filled attic, Jordan hears the gunfire and smells the smoke. Overcome by fear, Jordan feels she’s not alone. Moving deep into the storage boxes, Jordan’s whimpers are heard by Milo who announces himself by telling Jordan he can smell her blood and fear. When he ventures close enough to tease Jordan, undaunted by the danger of the fire he started. Creeping closer to Jordan, Milo teases her into screaming.

From below, Mitch hears his daughter’s scream. Without hesitation, he moves into the hallway where the blistering heat and flames lave his body, driving him back against the wall. From the bathroom, a vampire dripping with water, charges Mitch. Psyche jumps the attacker and drives him over the railing into the inferno. A last flailing hand hooks Psyche by her hair and pulls her down with him. Damien limps into the hallway. Sebastian tries to follow but Alexander stops him and hurtles the soul taker out the bedroom window in an effort to save his life then goes after Mitch. Damien shoves Mitch further down the hallway before the floor gives and collapses blocking any escape for Mitch and separating him from the vampires, Damien and Alexander. Mitch staggers to the veranda of the room to find clean air to fill his lungs.

Damien wrestles with Sherlock in a losing battle. The vampire is much too strong for the soul taker. Alexander intervenes and tells Damien to find Jordan while he handles Sherlock.

In the attic after a cat and mouse dance, Jordan finds herself out of hiding places and against a large window. Outside the raging storm slaps the glass while lightning christens the countryside with blue light and thunder applauds loudly overhead. Desperate and trapped, Jordan shatters the window with her hands and to stop herself from falling ends up dangling from a rusted lightning rod on the side of the house, three stories up. Milo tries to coax Jordan back inside instead of letting her fall to her death. He wants a taste of her rich blood. Damien makes his way into the attic by the route from the kitchen and follows Milo’s voice to the other end of the cluttered space with its vaulted ceilings and crowded stacks of damp cardboard boxes, generations old. Without thought, knowing a hand to hand confrontation with Milo would see to his demise, Damien rushes the vampire and shoves him out the window.

In the screaming confusion, Jordan loses her grip and Damien’s momentum drives him out to grab the lightning rod and Jordan’s falling arm with his free hand.

Below, Mitch sees the vampire fall, cracking its head against the balcony railing then impaled on the wrought iron fence next to the house. Looking up, he sees the dangling form of his daughter and Damien holding her.

Damien sees Mitch below the flailing girl and hopes when he finally has to let go of Jordan, Mitch will be able to catch her. Damien endures heartache watching Jordan’s frightened face staring up at him, looking betrayed as he lets go.

Jordan falls thinking her life is over just as her father catches her on the balcony. They watch Damien disappear back into the billowing smoke. The sounds of sirens approaching give them little solace.

Some time later, Jordan and Mitch try to piece together their lives, keeping the secret of the soul takers and vampires. Allowing the world to believe the people who kidnapped Jordan perished in the fire that consumed the Victorian farmhouse. Jordan learns of Fr. Michael Dormer’s mysterious death, with help from a psychiatrist, mends the ache of her past, and rebuilds a bonding relationship with her father.

When the winter winds bring snow to the sleepy town of Mantua, Jordan thinks nightly of her lost love and friends. Late one night a visitor in her bedroom clears all the confusion of what happened the night of the house fire. Damien gives Jordan the medallion that she left behind, the gift from Psyche. To her delight, Psyche survived the fire by using the falling vampire as a shield against the fire as they fell through the weakened floor. Once in the basement, she was able to break away before the rest of the ceiling collapses on the stunned vampire. She met up with Sebastian and Taylor. Alexander waved Damien from the fire before disappearing into the night. Saddened, Jordan understands Damien’s explanation of why it would be too much for Psyche to come say goodbye. Damien encourages Jordan to live a life before she runs off to become something she barely understands. He leaves Jordan with a kiss goodbye.
